A bottle of 2002 Richebourg Grand Cru from Domaine Jean Grivot.
The Richebourg vineyard is approximately eight hectares in total, divided between nine notable producers and responsible for producing around 26000 bottles in total per year. Grivot owns a
0.31 hectare plot, which was planted in 1949.
'Fresh floral notes and an intense spiciness introduce very ripe, astonishingly complex flavors that display layer upon layer of depth and superb intensity. This is the best wine in the cellar today with mouth coating and palate staining extract and this is very classy juice. Harmonious and pure with incredible elegance for such a powerful wine that this should be capable of 30+ years of cellar potential. Superb quality here. 94/100' Allan Meadows, Burghound, Tasted 2005

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
