A bottle of 1975 Château Climens 1er Cru from Barsac, a sub-appellation of Sauternes known for its slightly drier, more elegant style.
'High-botrytis vintage, low yields (7.2 hl/ha). TA 4.5 g/l (sulphuric), RS 98 g/l. Deep gold with the first signs of amber. More oily on the nose than the 1976 but intense bitter orange freshness too, intensely aromatic. Fabulously fresh acidity with so much richness and concentration of flavour. 19.5/20' Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.Com, Tasted 2009

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
