This lot contains two bottles of 1989 Vouvray Doux from Daniel Jarry.
The term Doux refers to wines made from multiple picking trips throughout the vineyard of often nobly rotten fruit. These are a minimum of 45 grams per litre of residual sugar, but can contain considerably more depending on vintage.
These bottles come from the collection of a Loire valley wine connoisseur who paid annual visits to Loire valley producers from the late 1980s onward, building up a fantastic inventory of bottles at all sweetness levels. These were stored in the UK in an underground WWII air raid shelter after collection straight from the producers.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note general wear.
The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
