A bottle of 2015 Château Batailley from Bordeaux's Pauillac appellation. A 'fifth growth' in the 1855 classification, the 55 hectare estate is planted with 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
'The 2015 Batailley is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. It has a lively fresh blackberry, red cherry and violet-scented bouquet that might coerce you into thinking it was from Margaux! It is very well defined, though, and gains intensity with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, supple in the mouth and certainly more approachable than the Batailleys of old. It feels harmonious and poised, supple and lithe on the finish with a satisfying saline aftertaste. There is something very assured about this Batailley, and it should drink well for many years. Anticipated maturity: 2021-2045. 94/100' Neal Martin, 2018

However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
