A bottle of 1970 Taittinger Comte de Champagne Rose, made from 100% Pinot Noir.
'Light orange-yellow, like a Cristal Rosé. Extreme finesse straight through...with a joyful smile this Champagne opens its arms to the chosen few who find her. The best rosé I have come across. 98/100' Richard Juhlin, tasted in 2000.
Taittinger's 'Prestige Cuvée', Comtes de Champagne, is an homage to Lord Thibaut IV, who planted the first Chardonnay vines in the province in the 13th century.
There is no ABV stated on the label. This has been stored by the current owner in a cool cellar in London since its purchase in the late 1970s.

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
