A bottle of the second batch of The Balvenie Tun 1401 series. Named after David Stewart's favourite marrying vat, this was a vatting of seven traditional whisky casks and three European sherry butts.
The Balvenie distillery was founded in 1889 by whisky pioneer William Grant and it has been in the same family for five generations. Today it is one of the few family owned distilleries in Scotland. The distillery uses local barley where possible and still maintains its own malting floor.
