A bottle of 1999 Hermitage from producer Jean-Louis Chave, grown in the north of the Rhône valley on one of France's steepest vineyards.
Hermitage AOC is an appellation in the northern Rhone valley, producing red wine from the Syrah grape variety.
'The 1999 Hermitage is another classic wine from this estate that shows a more mineral-laced, cooler, aristocratic style that just screams Hermitage. Offering extraordinary notes of blackcurrants, wet granite, tobacco, graphite, and a touch of spice, it has plenty of tannins, full-bodied richness, a focused, chiselled style, and a stunning finish. This was a vintage that closed down slightly after release and is just now starting to show at its peak. You can safely enjoy bottles any time over the coming 15 years or more. 96/100' Jeb Dunnuck, tasted 2020

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
