2005 Chateau D'Yquem Lur Saluces - Sauternes 75cl / 13.5%
A bottle of 2005 Château d'Yquem from Sauternes.
'The 2005 d'Yquem has 141 g/L of residual sugar and an alcohol of 13.3%. Medium straw-gold color, it sashays out with vivacious, spritely candied peel, honeyed lemon, and grapefruit oil scents, leading to hints of dried apricots, toasted almonds, allspice, chamomile, and creme caramel. Full-bodied and full-on unctuous, it has a lively backbone injecting energy to all that richness and a decadently spicy finish that just won't quit. No one would blame you for wanting to drink this now - it's so tantalizingly good - but if you can cellar this a further 5-7 years, your patience will be rewarded with layers beyond your wildest dreams. It should keep until 2065 and beyond. 97+/100' Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, The Wine Independent, 2022

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
