A bottle of Siepi 2019, produced in Tuscany by Marchesi Mazzei at Castello di Fonterutoli. This is a 50% Sangiovese and 50% Merlot blend grown in the 6 hectare Siepi vineyard, situated at an altitude of 260 metres. 30,000 bottles produced.
Siepi was described by the Italian wine guide, the Gambero Rosso, as 'one of the 50 wines that changed the style of Italian wine.'
'The 2019 Siepi continues a trend towards greater finesse and nuance in this wine. Crème de cassis, lavender, spice, licorice and plum meld together effortlessly in the glass. Dense and layered, with striking detail, the 2019 is so impressive. The flavors are bright, bold and punchy. An exceptionally beautiful and riveting wine, the 2019 is rich and concentrated, but not at all heavy. What a total knock-out. Drink 2025-2044. 99/100' Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, 2021

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability.
