A magnum bottle of 2003 Château Lafon-Rochet from Medoc's Saint Estèphe appellation.
Lafon-Rochet is a 'Fourth Growth' in the 1855 classification of Bordeaux Chateaux. It is a 45 hectare estate with 41 parcels of vines planted with 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc.
'Fully mature, round, soft and reasonably complex, the 2003 Lafon Rochet exhibits notes of cedarwood, licorice, Christmas fruitcake, red and black fruits. The tannins are resolved in this medium-bodied, low acid St.-Estephe, so enjoy it over the next 4-5 years. Drink 2014-2019. 89/100' Robert Parker, August 2014.

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
