Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin 2008 La Grande Dame Rose 75cl / 12.5%
A bottle of 2008 La Grande Dame Rose, the flagship 'prestige cuvée' Champagne from Veuve Clicquot. The 2008 is a blend of 92% Pinot Noir from Grands Crus in Aÿ, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzy and Verzenay and 8% Chardonnay from Le-Mesnil-sur-Oger.
'Medium-deep salmon colour. Evolving, powerful Pinot nose with plenty of character deriving from the 14% red wine addition. A complex mélange of dark cherry, smoke, game, red apple and pastry. Round, plush and exquisitely fruity palate, slightly on the winey side but comes with fine acidic backbone and vivacity. A touch of ripe tannin on the back palate and lovely lemony succulence bringing freshness and deliciousness. 95-97/100' Essi Avellan MW, 2021

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
