Description

A bottle of Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2002 Champagne and a numbered limited edition book, ‘The Art of Vintage – An aesthetic odyssey through 20 vintage Perrier-Jouët Champagnes’ by Serena Sutcliffe with Photography by Makiko Takeham. (Only 150 published.)

From the excellent 2002 vintage and scoring 94/100 from the Wine Spectator, the 2002 Brut Belle Epoque is a striking Champagne endowed with considerable power and richness in its exuberant fruit. The wine blossoms on the palate with tons of richness and a broad, expansive voice to the fruit that is quite beautiful. A long, creamy finish layered with tropical fruit rounds things out nicely.

The bottle is accompanied by a limited numbered edition of “The Art of Vintage: An aesthetic odyssey through 20 vintage Perrier-Jouët champagnes” hardcover. Art of Vintage is a lavish and sumptuous book, printed on high-quality paper with 456 pages on one of the most famous champagne houses in the world, well known for its Cuvee Belle Epoque and its distinctive bottle. The book is a fascinating insight into the mystique, the art and the history surrounding twenty legendary vintage champagnes produced by Perrier-Jouët champagne.

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.

This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
