A bottle of 2015 Château Musar from Lebanon.
Gaston Hochar created Château Musar in 1930 in the cellars of the old 17th century 'Mzar' castle in Ghazir. The vineyards are planted at an altitude of 1000 metres in the Bekaa Valley, and are principally planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan, with the exact composition of the finished wine varying from vintage to vintage.
'It’s a beauty of course, a blend as of yore of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Cinsault. It was fiendishly tricky vintage with a frost in April and a heat wave in September, threatening local disaster. Indeed some 65% of Cab. Sauv. was lost. What little wine that was made though, is glorious' Jonathan Ray, The Spectator, 2021

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
