Chateau Pavie Macquin 1997 St.Emilion Grand Cru Classe Large Format - Magnum 150cl / 13.5%
A magnum bottle of Château Pavie Macquin 1997, a St. Emilion Grand Cru Classé from a 15 hectare estate planted with 70% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Cabernet Franc.
'The color is opaque purple/black, and the nose offers up celestial aromas of black raspberries, cassis, and mineral notes that are reminescent of wines from the renowed Pomerol estate, Lafleur, or, more recently, the prodigiously perfect 1990 Beausejour-Duffau. The 1997 reveals exceptional old wine intensity, and more structure than many wines of the vintage, but the tannin is sweet and silky. Full-bodied, with layers of extract, an unctuous texture, and a finish that lasts for 40+ seconds, this is a profoudly great wine from a good vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2020. 91-93/100' Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 1998

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
