A bottle of 1990 Château Clerc Milon Grand Cru Classé from the Pauillac appellation in Bordeaux, a 'fifth growth' in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification.
'The 1990 is a benchmark Clerc Milon that put all those years of hurt behind it. A blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, this is a very different blend to the 1986 due to vineyard acquisitions. It is almost a decade since the 1990 blew me away whilst dining at Mouton in my 'buying' days and by 2013 it has retained that wondrous bouquet of blackberry, kirsch, fresh mint and leather. Frankly speaking, you would not want to put Mouton ’90 anywhere near, to spare the First Growth’s blushes. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. It has attractive structure and very impressive focus – layers of soy-tinged black fruit, hints of sandalwood and cloves with a suave, vigorous, classically styled finish. Superb! 94/100' Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, 2014

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
