A bottle of 2003 Château Kirwan Margaux Grand Cru Classé. Kirwan is a troisième cru classé, or 'third growth' estate in the 1855 classification. A 35 hectare estate, it is planted with 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot.
'A sleeper of the vintage, the 2003 Kirwan exhibits a dense plum/ruby color, sweet creme de cassis notes intermixed with spicy fruitcake and cedarwood, medium to full body, good freshness, sweet tannin and a long finish. This beauty has hit its plateau of maturity, but it is in no danger of falling apart. Drink it over the next decade. Drink 2014-2024. 92/100'
Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 2014

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
