A bottle of North British 1962 single grain Scotch whisky. This was matured in a single barrel for 49 years and selected by Mahesh R Patel, Whisky Adventurer, for Sirius Whisky Purveyors.
This was bottled from cask number 44.
North British distillery was established in 1885 by Andrew Usher, William Sanderson, John Crabbie, and James Watson, who wanted to break the monopoly on grain whisky production held by The Distillers Company Ltd (DCL). Production began with a single Coffey still in 1887, and despite closures during both world wars, at the start of the 1970s the distillery was producing around 12 million gallons per year. For a time the largest grain plant in Scotland. Today the distillery is owned by Diageo and contributes to blends including Cutty Sark, Famous Grouse, Chivas Regal, J&B, and Isle Of Skye.
