Description

A case of six bottles of 1999 La Tâche from the Domaine De La Romanée-Conti. 16640 bottles were produced, and these are sequentially numbered bottles from: 14889 to 14894.

These were imported into Mexico by Importaciones de la Mancha, and then into the USA by Liquidlink, LLC, Palos Verdes Estates, California. One of the bottles has a square Mexican import sticker on the right side of the front label, the other five have some slight adhesive residue or smearing where these stickers have been removed by a previous owner.

'The 1999 La Tâche Grand Cru can be a perfect wine. This was very similar to the bottle opened in 2015. The bouquet sends you straight to heaven with so much purity and detail that frankly it is difficult to put into words. Fleeting glimpses of redcurrant, then pomegranate, broom and wilted rose petals, later more earthy scents, autumnal. The palate is perfectly balanced with filigree tannin, a symmetry that is utterly entrancing and precision second to none. Hints of black plum and blood orange, that mineralité returning towards a finish so tensile you risk cutting yourself. 100 Points' Neal Martin, Vinous, 2018

Please note, there are no sizes or ABVs stated on the labels.

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.

This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
