This lot contains two bottles of Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial 2010 from Marques De Murrieta produced in Logroño, Spain. This is a blend of 85% Tempranillo, aged for 24 months in American oak and 15% Mazuelo aged for 24 months in French oak.
Established in 1852, Murrieta is one of the oldest and most respected bodegas in Rioja Alta, renowned for its concentrated and long-lived wines.
'Marvelous aromas of crushed berries, tobacco, cedar and mushrooms. Some dried cheese. Then turns to flowers. Very complex. Full and intense with fantastic depth and power. It goes on for minutes. It is a wine that exudes tradition but gives a sense of modernity with precise winemaking. Two years in oak, one in concrete and three or four in bottle. Drink on release and age onwards. 99/100' James Suckling, tasted 2019

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
