Description

A bottle of 2013 Pio Cesare Ornato Barolo. The Nebbiolo for this wine was sourced from

the vineyards of Cascina Ornato in Serralunga d’Alba highly regarded for their solid structure, tannins and potential longevity.

Barolo is a red Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG) wine produced in the northern Italian region of Piedmont. Made from the Nebbiolo grape variety, it is regarded as one of Italy's greatest wines, and is characterised by its rich tannic structure, rust-red colouration and 'tar and roses' aromas.

Pio Cesare winery was founded in 1881, by Cesare Pio; Nebbiolo for their Barolo is sourced from family-owned vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba (Ornato, La Serra and Briccolina), Grinzane Cavour (Gustava and Garretti), La Morra (Roncaglie) and Novello (Ravera).
