Chateau Troplong Mondot 1998 Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classe 75cl / 13%
A bottle of 1998 Château Troplong Mondot, a Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classé from Bordeaux. The 30 hectares of vineyards are planted with 90% Merlot and 5% each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
'A fabulous effort and a sleeper of the vintage, which may turn out to be the finest Troplong Mondot since the 1990, the black/purple-colored 1998 exhibits floral, blueberry, blackberry, licorice, vanilla, and truffle-like aromas (or is it charcoal/graphite?). Dense, full-bodied, and pure, yet extremely fresh and elegant, this beautifully focused wine will be at its finest between 2005 and 2025. 93/100' Robert Parker, tasted 2002

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
