A bottle of Marquis d'Auvigne Vieux Marc de Champagne from Châlons-sur-Marne (renamed as Châlons-en-Champagne in 1998). This was imported to Italy by Mazuoli, Firenze, we estimate in the 1960s.
Marc is a brandy distilled from the pomace left over from winemaking, similar to grappa.
