This lot contains 12 bottles of Smith Woodhouse 2000 Vintage Port, bottled in 2002. The 2000 was awarded 95 points by wine critic James Suckling in the Wine Spectator in 2003.
Founded in 1784 by the then Lord Mayor of London, Christopher Smith, who went into business with the Woodhouse brothers, Smith Woodhouse is now part of the Symington family portfolio alongside some of the port industry's most celebrated shippers.
Largely sourced from the late-ripening Madalena vineyard in the Upper Douro's Rio Torto district , the majority of the fruit is still trod by foot in stone lagares, and the resulting wines are known for their structure, elegance, and ability to age.
