A 4.5 litre flagon of Royal Navy Rum, presented in the traditional wicker casing. We estimate this was bottled in the 1950s.
The stamp is embossed with the word 'Deptford', which likely refers to Deptford Dockyard and the associated Victualling Yard, which was dedicated to the manufacture and storage of food, drink, clothing and furniture for the navy until its closure in 1961
The additional paper tag is from Border Wine Merchants, Carlisle, and describes this flagon as 'Rum Ex MOD, 54% ABV, 4.5 Litres'. On the reverse is handwritten 'Ex-Gibralter 1953'.
Attached is a small metal Pussers Rum cup.
Due to the large and fragile nature of this item, we recommend it for collection only.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note general wear to the wicker casing and damage to the wax seal.
This appears to have a good fill level. This flagon weighs approximately 8.52kg.
Due to the large and fragile nature of this item, we recommend it for collection only.

However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing.
