A bottle of 1997 Ermitage Blanc de L'Orée from producer M Chapoutier, vinified from biodynamically grown Marsanne fruit from 60 to 70 year vines in the north of the Rhône valley on one of France's steepest vineyards.
'Almost straw colour; rounded, buttery bouquet; lovely texture here, already soft, but has good structure. Persistent and is both full and fine. Rounder than Méal, very discreet, lovely. Still restrained, with oak edging. 2017-2023 5*' John Livingstone-Learmonth, tasted 2005
