Buchanan's House Of Commons (Black & White) Bottled Circa 1900 5cl

A miniature bottle of The House of Commons Scotch Whisky, bottled by James Buchanan & Co, Scotch Whisky Merchants, Glasgow, Leith & London. We estimate this was bottled circa 1900.

The back label reads:

'Royal Commission

At the British and Foreign spirits Special Committee, appointed by Government in 1890, under the presidency of Sir Lyon Playfair, Bart, Dr Bell, CB, Government Analytical Chemist, reported on a sample of our Scotch Whisky as follows: It affords evidence of having been stored in Wine Casks, and the result of the analysis is consistent with genuine pot still spirits. From the general fine character of the sample there is reason to believe that it has been warehoused for many years.'

This lot is from a large collection of miniatures and memorabilia built up during the 1980s and 1990s by whisky expert Sukhinder Singh. He is now selling part of his collection to make room for more acquisitions.
