A bottle of Côte Rôtie Cordeloux 2006 from producers Marie and Pierre Benetière, harvested from one of France's steepest vineyard sites.
Between 4000 to 5000 bottles are produced each year of Cordeloux, with the blend typically being 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier, whole-bunch fermented, with a two week vinification.
'Scented, charming bouquet, with a murmur of red fruits within. The palate is underwritten by floral scented fruit, a wine that weaves a gentle path. Fine tannins present, the southern zone at work.....Understated in its making.' John Livingstone-Learmonth, tasted 2009
