A bottle of Gaja 1967 Barbaresco wine produced in Italy.
The Gaja winery was founded in 1859 by Giovanni Gaja, the family having arrived from Spain during the 17th century. Angelo Gaja, born in 1940, began his career with the company in 1961 at the age of 21, introducing strict quality controls and wine making practices previously unheard of in Barbaresco, becoming in the process, as wine writer Nicolas Belfrage, described, 'the man who dragged Piedmont into the modern world'.
