A bottle of Heimbourg 2012 Gewurztraminer from Domaine Zind Humbrecht in Alsace, bottled by Olivier and Margaret Humbrecht.

This was the last Gewurztraminer harvest from the small, west-facing Heimbourg vineyard in Turkheim before Humbrecht took the painful decision to pull up the 29 year old vines as a result of 'Esca' vine disease, which disrupts sap flow, and in this case was responsible for killing between 5 and 8% of their vines per year. This is an exotic, citrussy style, bottled with 55 grams per litre of residual sugar.
