This lot contains four bottles of 1995 Pavillon Rouge, the second wine of Château Margaux.

The first official vintage of Pavillon Rouge was in 1908, with the name falling from use for several decades from the 1930s to the 1970s. Greek shipping magnate André Mentzelopoulos brought in a number of changes to boost quality at the Château upon gaining ownership of Margaux, one of which was the reintroduction of Pavillon Rouge in 1977. In recent vintages an average of a third of the harvest has become the 'Grand Vin', a third Pavillon Rouge, with the balance going to the third and fourth wines.
