This lot contains six pieces of correspondence and receipts from John Lyons & Co. of Riverstown Distillery to its client William Pulling & Co. These documents date from 1845 to 1849.
Three receipts from Riverstown Distillery for casks of whiskey, dated 1845 and 1846.
One small noted advising that 'the price of whiskey has this day fallen to 6s.4d per gallon', dated 14 July 1848.
One letter concerning the shipment of a puncheon of 'old whiskey' on the 'Dubliner', bound for Bristol. One passage reads: 'Having had a fall in the price of whiskey we freely give you the advantage of it, though we may remark that whiskey such as we send you (old whiskey) could not be purchased in Dublin under a shilling more than we charge you.' This letter is dated 15 July 1848.
One letter concerning the shipment of a puncheon of whiskey to Bristol, dated 15 July 1849.
