This lot contains three bottles of Corton-Charlemagne Cuvée Spéciale 2000 from Domaine Patrick Javillier, picked from one of Burgundy's most celebrated hillside vineyards. Four barrels of this wine were produced, with the fruit picked from Corton-Pougets and aged in 50% new oak for 12 months of aging, after which the wine was transferred to older barrels for a further 6 months of marrying.
Sometimes referred to as 'the Chablis of the Cote d'Or' for its ability to combine power and flesh with a purer, minerally edge more readily associated with wines from cooler, more northerly vineyards. Corton-Charlemagne is named after the Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne, who once owned the hill of Corton on which the vineyards now rest.
This lot comes from the temperature-controlled cellar of media businessman and wine enthusiast Lord Evgeny Lebedev, where they have been kept since purchase direct from UK importers.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note general wear.
Note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. Older bottles often contain small amounts of sediment. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
