Chateau Gruaud Larose 2000 Saint Julien 3 x 75cl / 12.5%
This lot contains three bottles of 2000 Château Gruaud-Larose from Bordeaux's Saint-Julien appellation.
The property was ranked as a Deuxième Cru Classé in the 1855 Classification, and its 82 hectares are planted with 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 7.5% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot and 1.5% Malbec. Known for its substantial structure and fruit-driven style, it's motto is 'le vin des rois, le roi des vins' : 'the wine of kings, the king of wines.'
'A very strong effort for Gruaud Larose, possibly eclipsed by what they have done in 2009, this is a pure, full-bodied Gruaud Larose with plenty of new saddle leather, cedar wood, black currants, cherries, licorice, and Provencal herbs. Spicy, earthy, full-bodied, and rich, it has hit its plateau of full maturity, where it should stay for another 20 or more years. 94/100'
Robert Parker, tasted 2010.
This lot comes from the temperature-controlled cellar of media businessman and wine enthusiast Lord Evgeny Lebedev, where they have been kept since purchase direct from UK importers.
