Highly regarded for its wines since the nineteenth century Quinta do Vesuvio became part of the Symington Port empire in 1989, and now has 133 hectares of vines, planted at altitudes varying from 130 metres to 530 metres, in production. The grapes are trod each vintage by foot by a team of 50 in granite 'lagares' built in 1827.

'Highly recommended in 1998 and the same again this time round. It's deep and dark with lovely opulent aromas of plums, cherries and lifted blossom. It's rich and luxurious with dense, ripe, minty fruit with firm tannins to back it up. A wonderfully solid finish. Complete. 95/100' Richard Mayson, Decanter, tasted 2014
