The Auchroisk distillery was built in 1972 to provide malt for the J & B blends. It was commissioned by International Distillers & Vintners to join its other Speyside distilleries, Glen Spey, Knockando and Strathmill. Following a series of mergers, aquisitions and consolidations, Auchroisk became part of the newly formed Diageo in 1997.
The distillery's first single malt was released in 1986 under the Singleton brand. It then made its way into Diageo's Rare Malts Selection followed by its Special Releases series with 20, 25 and 30 Year Old expressions.
