We were delighted to partner with the trustees of The Maclean Foundation to support its launch by hosting a charity auction during our September Whisky & Spirits Auction, from 3 - 12 September.
The Maclean family and charity Trustees sourced 39 unique lots from generous donors in the drinks industry, including ‘One of One’ bottles, to raise money for the Foundation, which will aid the provision of clean water around the world, starting on the island of Madagascar.
We had planned for the auction to have 35 lots to represent the record-breaking 35 days it took the three Maclean brothers to cross the Atlantic in a rowing boat, but, due to the generosity of the whisky industry, there were 39. There were bottles to excite any whisky collector and enthusiast, including unique bottles of Port Ellen and Karuizawa.
The Maclean Foundation (SC051703) was founded by ‘Scotland’s leading whisky expert’, writer, author and researcher, Charles Maclean MBE, and his three sons, Ewan, Jamie and Lachlan. The Foundation's mission is ‘to create positive change through compassion and adventure'.
The idea was originally conceived during the boys’ Atlantic crossing in 2020, during which they smashed records by rowing 3,000 miles from the Canary Islands to Antigua in just 35 days.
The Maclean Foundation Charity Auction ran from 3 - 12 September 2023 and raised £67,934.44 for The Maclean Foundation.
