The Whisky Exchange and Whisky.Auction are hosting a charity auction from 12 - 21 July, to raise money for The Association of Jamaicans UK Trust (AOJUK) and their Hurricane Melissa Appeal.
In October 2025, Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica causing widespread damage to infrastructure, people’s homes and lives. This has massively impacted many members of our rum community and their families based in Jamaica, and we’re standing with the industry to raise money in support of these relief efforts.
Funds raised will be donated via AOJUK in partnership with Food for the Poor Jamaica, with every penny supporting rebuilding of communities in Jamaica. The charity is working on the ground to help re-roof 100,000 houses that were severely damaged by the storm, and with every new roof costing an average of $3,800, there’s a lot of work still to be done.
Lots have been kindly donated by our industry friends and all proceeds, including buyers commission, will be donated to the charity.
The Association of Jamaicans (UK) Trust (AOJUK) - registered charity number 270140 - is the oldest Jamaican social welfare group in the United Kingdom. Set up shortly after Jamaica gained independence in August 1962, the trust was founded with a goal to enhance Jamaicans’ quality of life in the UK and to collaborate with the Jamaican High Commission.
Following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica in October 2025, AOJUK set up a Hurricane Melissa Appeal, raising money to support the relief effort on the island. We will be partnering with AOJUK to donate funds, which will be used by charity workers in Jamaica from charity Food for the Poor Jamaica who are providing on the ground relief, such as emergency supplies, temporary shelter and medical assistance.
The Auction for Jamaica will be live as part of the July Whisky & Spirits auction from 12 July, ending from 19:30 BST on 21 July. All charity lots will be labelled and the full list will be accessible from this page once the auction preview is live.
